What Buyers Want

by Osman Parvez

Yahoo Business recently shared a well written and up to date article on what today's buyers are looking for. If you're a seller, the lifestyle section of the article is especially relevant.

Our experience echoes what is stated. Much of what your potential buyers are looking for depends on the fundamental (and realistically unchangeable) characteristics of your home. Demographics are a core driver of the real estate market. The second home buyer, often a wealthy baby boomer, looking for a spot of mountain or seaside paradise is not concerned with the same things as a first-time home buyer.

The article closes with, "one of the biggest changes Realtors are seeing is in the buyers themselves, says Bishop. Buyers are doing their homework before they start to shop. "They are continuing to make greater use of the Internet in their home search," he says. "They are gathering information about property for sale and doing legwork in advance of working with a Realtor."

We strongly encourage our clients to do their research. We recommend utilizing the many, and often free, online resources available to better know the market and find what they are looking for. You'll find a number of resources to better know the local market here.

If you're getting close and would like to see listing alerts, please contact us. We'd be more than happy to send you current listings that fit your needs.
