Cruise on This

by Osman Parvez

Ok, this doesn't have much to do with the analysis of the Real Estate Market in Boulder. Consider it a small window into our creative community instead.

Last night I, along with some friends, enjoyed the weekly cruiser bike ride that occurs every Thursday in Boulder. Except instead of the more typical 250 to 300 or so riders during the peak summer months, 650+ people were on the ride.

Imagine a massive parade of people (and pets) on two, three, and four wheels in all manner of mostly red, white, and blue dress cruising through the streets in a slow somewhat chaotic ~8 mile parade of human powered initiative and you'll have a pretty good snapshot of the scene rolling through Boulder last night. With colorful outfits and bikes outfitted with glowing lights fit for a holiday parade it wasn't Critical Mass, but our own Boulder Cruiser Ride.

Perhaps it was a confluence of events; the upcoming holiday, publicity surrounding Bike Week, great weather, and more organization by volunteers which created the record tally. What a scene and what fun! And if you missed it, well... there's always next week.

For pictures of the ride, check out Brett Amole' s photo gallery of recent rides. Pics from last night's ride will no doubt be posted soon.
